Ravn Alaska Dispatchers must meet the minimum qualifications outlined on the job posting some of which include the following:

  • Must hold a FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Airman Certificate.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and navigating internet resources for weather such as NOTAMs, etc.
  • Must have excellent decision-making skills with the ability to transition between tasks quickly while remaining forward looking.

At Ravn Alaska, our dispatchers undergo comprehensive training to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary. The training program consists of four weeks of classroom instruction, where they delve into various aspects of dispatch operations, including flight planning, weather analysis, aircraft systems, regulations, and emergency procedures. Following the classroom instruction, our dispatchers transition to a two-week on-the-job training period, where they apply their knowledge in a practical setting. Under the guidance of experienced dispatchers, they gain hands-on experience in real-time operations. Throughout the training, our dispatchers are provided with continuous support and mentorship to enhance their learning and development. They are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarification, and participate in interactive exercises to reinforce their understanding of the dispatching process and procedures.
