Reverse DescriptionThe Dutch Harbor coin has two elements, a military bunker, and Forget-me-not flowers. The military bunker comes from Dutch Harbor’s Bunker hill, a leftover from World War II and now a popular hiking spot in Unalaska. The flower is not only Alaska’s state flower but also can be found all around Unalaska Island.
2021 Tokns - Unalaska/Dutch Harbor
Artist: Hannah Paulston
From digital to graphite, pottery to photography, Hannah likes it all. Having lived in Alaska for the last ten years, there is nowhere like Alaska for vistas and communities. The state inspires.
The city of Unalaska/Dutch Harbor is on the northern end of Unalaska Island, the second largest island in the Aleutian Chain, 800 mi southwest of Anchorage. World War II history, cultural opportunities, and beautiful scenery draw people to Unalaska/Dutch Harbor. The island provides many outdoor activities including hiking, sportfishing, kayaking, and birding. Dutch Harbor is the main delivery port for the crab fleet featured on the Discovery Channel’s hit reality show “The Deadliest Catch.”
Nicknames: "Dutch Harbor" (official name: Unalaska),
